Around midnight. I function best on about 7 hours of sleep.

Monday Minute 10/18

It's time for the Monday Minute with Cristy!

(1) Did you play any sports growing up?

I did! I played soccer, baseball, softball, and was on the dance team in high school.

(2) Have you ever gotten an MIP?

Uh - not entirely sure what you are talking about here - but google said that you could be referring to a "minor in possession", so I will go with that! LOL 

No - I have not. In my neck of the woods, they were just referred to as underaged drinking tickets. 

(3) Do you snore or sleepwalk?

I do snore - and I have been known to sleepwalk. Apparently, one time at band camp  on a school trip, I got up and threw my Cadbury Egg out the window of our hotel room. I have no idea if it is true - but that is what they say. Plus - my Cadbury egg was nowhere to be found. The girl I was with didn't like them, so I know she didn't take it.

(4) Describe your last dream.

I don't know, to be honest. I've never been very good at remembering them.

(5) What's the one thing you've been meaning to do that you just haven't gotten to?

Organize my random recipes that have been printed out/cut out of magazines, scribbled down on paper.

It really depends on the situation.

Loading and unloading the dishwasher. I would rather clean the toilet. lol

Monday minute 10/4

First of all, I can NOT believe it is October already.

What's your biggest pet peeve?

Ya know - I have too many of them. I guess if I had to choose one, well okay, I can't choose just one, so here ya go: Other drivers. It doesn't matter if they are slow, fast, or old - they all annoy me for one reason or another. I often wish I was the only one on the road. I HATE it when my face is touched. My daughter, bless her heart, likes to touch my face all the time and it drives me absolutely bonkers. Being ignored - nothing will piss me off quicker. Tapping. Yes..constant tapping. Drives me up the frickin' wall. Mouth noises. Not a fan. The doors to the washer and dryer being left open. That's all for now.

Describe your first kiss. 

LOL! Oh man - I'm sure my mother will enjoy reading this as I'm sure she doesn't know about it. So, we lived in Georgetown, IL, and I had a huge crush on the new kid in school He happened to have just moved here from Indonesia. He wasn't born there, but his parents did some kind of work over there. Anwhoodle - He came over one afternoon and for whatever reason, we decided that sitting under this bright ass blue blanket in my back yard was a good plan. And then, it happened. Then, he wanted to stick his tongue in my mouth. Ensue freak out. I was in 5th grade people. That's what...10 or 11 yrs old? Ha! His name was Zach. He is also involved in one of my all time most embarrassing moments. Maybe I will share that one later. lol

Describe the drunkest night of your life (or at least, the drunkest night you can remember).

Yikes. Okay - well I'm not sure that I can count it as the drunkest, but it was definitely the worst. June 23, 2002. I was 18 years old, fresh out of high school and out with my new boyfriend. We had been to several parties that evening. One in particular was a going away party for a guy we went to school with. He was heading out of state to go to school. His parents were gone for the weekend, so that meant it was time to party! We headed home. I remember standing outside of the truck and thinking - I shouldn't get in here. I knew I shouldn't have. I could have walked to my parents house. It was about a mile away - but I could have done it.  On the way to my house (I moved out right after graduation), I passed out at some point. I took off my seatbelt and laid down in the front of the dinky little Ford Ranger we were in. Well, I wasn't the only one who passed out. My boyfriend, the driver, also passed out, right as we were coming into town and where there happens to be fork in the road with a 30 ft culvert in between. You guess it - we went straight into the culvert. I won't go into all of the details of how badly I was injured, but I am amazed that I walked away from that. And walk I did - apparently we walked down to my house as we were only a few blocks away. My roommate opened the door for us and immediately put us into his truck and took us to the ER. I must have been in a large amount of shock because I don't remember feeling any pain. I should have been. My nose was all but shattered. I had several teeth missing and broken. I has some pretty severe cuts on my face. In addition all of that - I have some severe back and neck problems that still haunt me to this day. If only I had just walked home....

What's the last movie you saw and what did you think of it?

The last movie I saw in the theater was Eclipse. I went with my friend Patti and had a girls' night of sorts. It was in the theater that plays shows that are already out of the main theater, so yay for a $3 ticket! It was definitely the best movie so far in the Twilight series!

 Do you prefer taking a bath or a shower?

This is easy. I HATE baths. I am so not a fan...I much prefer showers. I can't even tell you tell you the last time I had a bath.

Monday Minute 9/13

1 - Who is your favorite childhood superhero? 

When I was a kid - my favorite superhero was my dad. He could fix anything :)

2 - List something you have done for pure shock value.

I'm not one that usually "shocks" people - so I've got nothing. 

3 - What is the most recent thing someone has said/done to you that left you picking your jaw up off of the floor.

Well, the only thing I can think of was when my brother's friend stopped by the other evening. Something was going on in that head of his - I have no idea what. He was acting stranger than I'd ever seen him. Anyway - when he left, we all said goodbye to him and he just stared straight ahead and walked out the door, slamming it HARD on his way out. He didn't say a single word. So odd - and very rude.  

4 - Do you have a moment where you gained clarity about your life?

It was probably a week after Paige was born. I think it was at that point it finally dawned on me that I wasn't just playing house. I had a child. I had a family. 

5 - What are you doing to achieve your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be a good mother, and I think I'm doing pretty well at that. I'm trying to be there for her. I'm trying to walk the fine line of being too strict and letting her do as she pleases. So far - I think I'm doing okay. I'm far from perfect, but I try.

Monday Minute 8/30

Who was your high school Sweet Heart?


Chris Wilson - we dated for almost 2 years. He broke up with me in a "Val-o-gram." Ya know those things that you can pay a .25 for and it will be delivered on the last day of school prior to the holiday? Yeah - we had Val-o-grams for Valentine's Day. We had Hal-o-grams or whatever for Halloween. Sant-o-grams for Christmas. Anyway, he broke up with me in one, and then asked out my best friend in one. We sat next to each other and her note was anonymous. She asked if I recognized the handwriting. Those were the days that we wrote notes to all of our friends all the time -so yes - I knew whose handwriting it was. 


That was a fun day.

I really want to dress up! I want to be Alice and I want Abe to be the Mad Hatter!

It's too terrible. I got several speeding tickets in Colorado, but I've never had one since moving here.

Rollercoaster 

 - Is there something you wish you had learned how to do as a child?

Um... sign language would have been cool, but there was no reason that I needed to know it lol 

 - Who has been the biggest influence on your life?

It's a tie between my sister and my daughter. My sister taught me a lot of things like patience and to not take things for granted. My daughter has changed me as a person in more ways than I could have ever imagined. 

 - What is your greatest dream/hope/aspiration?

My greatest dream is to provide my daughter with a good life. I'm not talking about being rich and giving her everything her heart desires. I'm talking about always being there for her, being someone she can look up to, keeping a roof over her head and her tummy full. I just want to be a good mom.

-Do you believe you have reached your potential?  Why/why not?

No. I don't think anyone ever actually reaches their full potential. As the years go on, we learn things and our lives change, and therefore your full potential is something that is constantly changing. Gosh, I hope that made sense. lol

1. Who is your "what-if" person?

 

Well, I guess my what if person would be the guy I was stupidly engaged to prior to meeting Abe. This isn't a what-if that could have ever turned out good, so I don't think about him. He wasn't a bad guy, but he just had zero motivation for anything. In fact, last I heard, he is AWOL from the Army, lives with a friend and smokes pot all day. Real winner he his. 

 

2. What is your nickname? 

 

I have a few of them. Techically...Cari is a nickname since Carissa is my real name. My brother calls me Carl. Cari Berry, Blueberry..and that's all I can think of right now although I'm sure there are more. lol 

3. If you could choose how you died, how would you like to die?

 

In my sleep. Peacefully.

4. If you could have named yourself, which name would you have picked?

 

I like my name :)

5. Who were you named after or for what reason did your parents choose your name?

 

I wasn't named after anyone and I'm pretty sure that my name came straight out of a baby book :)

I listen to the radio, usually. Sometimes, I opt for complete silence since that is very rare.

Hmm...I have a really cute "little black dress" that I love!!

Would you be willing to breastfeed your friend's three year old child?

That is a loaded question. Wow. Out of the blue? Definitely not. If for some reason it was medically necessary or something, and I happened to be breastfeeding, and she asked me to..maybe. Since that will most likely never, ever happen, I will just go with NO. lol

Has anyone you've known personally lived to at least 100?
No, I don't think so. Unfortunately, members of this family seem to have shorter than average life spans :( If anyone makes it, my money is my great grandmother.

What material possession do you value the most?
My sister's belongings that I am lucky to have.

I want to believe that I will meet up with all of those I love, not necessarily in heaven...but...somewhere. :)

1 - Have you ever had any feelings towards one of your teachers back in the day?

I can honestly say...No. I never had the opportunity to have a hot teacher. I lived in Leadville, CO for heaven's sake. Beautiful place, but not a lot of people. lol 

2 - What's the most embarrassing thing that happened while at work? (If you never worked then make something up)

I am not good at these kind of questions. I can never pick out something specific. So..I will just go with falling on my ass at Ski Cooper when I was a lift operator. I can't remember a specific incident, but I'm sure there was one. lol 

3 - When was the last time you crapped yourself?

Uh...well...I can't say for sure, because I don't know how old I was when I was potty trained...but I will just go with 2. lol

4 - What is one thing you have always kept a secret and why have you kept this a secret for so long?

First of all....wtf. LOL

Have you ever peed in the shower/bath/pool? I can honestly say..NO. The thought of it grosses me out.

What is your definition of success? As long as I'm happy, then I've been successful in this life.
